Resources for Your Nursing Career
Our Resources download provides JHG Texas Nursing Scholars a comprehensive list of professional nursing organizations, information to pursue credentialing and accreditation as a Registered Nurse. Links are also provided for preparation for initial licensure as Registered Nurses and where to upload resumes and find current job opportunities.
Also provided in the Resources download are links to resources to help write a resumé. A resumé is one of the essential tools needed to land an interview. It must be an easy-to-read and well-structured presentation which is targeted toward the nursing position for which the Nursing Scholar is applying. The links provide an important resource for the JHG Texas Nursing Scholar to learn how to develop interviewing skills, and to pursue networking and job search. As a JHG Texas Nursing Scholar, interviews are your opportunity to sell yourself to a potential employer and convince them that you are the best person for the job. Preparation is key to a successful interview! Practice interviewing skills and answering common behavioral interview questions and research the prospective hospital or clinic as much as possible.
JHG Texas Enhances Educational Outcomes by Adding Mentoring to Financial Support
Although the return on investment in education is said to be infinite, the synergies from combining mentoring with financial support produce an even greater return on investment in nursing scholarships.

The Myers-JHG Tutoring and Academic Support Center
The Myers-JHG Tutoring and Academic Support Center was established in partnership with Texas Woman’s’ University and Mike A. Myers foundation to support TWU’s excellence in nursing education. Located at the T. Boone Pickens Institute of Health Sciences at TWU’s Dallas Campus and overseen by an Associate Clinical Professor as Tutoring Center Coordinator, state-of-the-art instructional technology is available to promote the learning and development of nursing students. Since its inception in 2020, hundreds of student nurses have been tutored across 69 course sections free of charge.
Mentoring Through Community Service
JHG Texas invites its Nursing Scholars to join in community service activities, such as building wheelchair access ramps with our partner Dallas Ramps at homes of invalid shut-ins and in food service at our other partner, the Salvation Army.
2025 was an excellent year for Wheelchair Access Ramp Projects with 108 feet of ramps projects built by 43 volunteers over three weekends. Of the three projects in 2025, 8 JHG Texas Nursing Scholars from TWU and UTA participated with 6 psychology graduate students from TWU along with mentors from JHG Texas.
2026 is off to a great start with one ramp of 30 ft. in length already completed by 11 volunteers, including 4 JHG Texas Nursing Scholars from the TWU College of Nursing.

JHG Texas Nursing Scholars participated in community service at a 2025 ramp build with JHG Texas.

Seven JHG Texas Nursing Scholars from UTA’s College of Nursing volunteered with members of JHG Texas to serve lunch to 200 veterans, homeless, and other clients of the Salvation Army in March 2026.
